On July 19, 1956, the circuit court issued a writ of certiorari to the board and clerk of Joint School District No. 6 of the
city of Independence, the towns of Arcadia, Burnside and Lincoln in Trempealeau county and the towns of Montana and Glencoe
in Buffalo county (hereinafter referred to as the Independence district.) The writ was issued upon the petition of Joint School
District No. 10 of the towns of Chimney Rock and Burnside, Trempealeau county (hereinafter referred to as the Russel-Vieum
district) and individuals who are the members of the board of the district and residents and electors therein. The writ commanded
the return of the record of all acts in connection with an order entered June 19, 1956, by the board of the Independence district,
attaching to the Independence district territory hereinafter referred to as area 1, formerly in the Russel-Vieum district.
The officers of the Independence district made a return and supplemental return to the writ and moved to quash it. On August
6, 1957, judgment was entered quashing the writ. This is case No. 224. On August 22, 1956, the circuit court issued a similar writ upon petition of the same petitioners and commanded a return
of the record in connection with an order issued by the board of the Independence district on August 7, 1956, attaching to
the Independence district territory herein referred to as areas 2-A, 2-B and 2-C formerly within the Russel-Vieum district.
There was a return and a motion to quash and judgment was entered quashing the writ on August 6, 1957. This is case No. 225.
